2019 Jan 2 Float View
Day after the Rose Parade (Wednesday Jan 2), we got to see all 40 of the floats up close.

Orchid blooms below.
Above Underground Service Alert of Southern California ("Whistle While You Work"). The birds have feathers of yellow marigold petals, while their homes are made of cornhusk, eucalyptus leaves, white coconut flakes and sweet rice.
This is the float that caught on fire and stopped the parade. Luckily it was toward the end. Fire was put out before it did much damage, but they had to get a huge tow truck to move it out of the way. It's the Chinese American Heritage Foundation ("Harmony Through Union"). Brings to life the iconic photograph taken at Promontory Point, Utah, which heralded the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad on May 10, 1869. Golden spike is about to be ceremonially driven into the last rail.
Above with friends from Kansas City, John & Susan Weaver. We've been on 4 Adventure Caravan trips with them.
Took us 3 hours to walk around these floats. Great weather, good friends, lovely floats to view up close. Doesn't get any better.
